A Petition has reached over 100,000 signatures - Petition: Reverse
the ESA disability benefit cut - https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/124016 - The Petitions Committee decided not to debate this petition!
"The House of Commons Petitions Committee has decided not to schedule a debate on this petition, because this subject has already been discussed and voted on in the House of Commons."
The logic of this escapes me, this committee often discusses decisions that parliament has already made. The petition asks parliament to reverse the decision.
By this logic we should only launch petitions for decisions that have not yet been made. We have to anticipate when Government may be thinking of doing something evil or stupid.
So we could propose a petition such as - "The Government proposes to do something evil, we don't know what it is yet but this petition opposes it in advance."
